The Social Services Department administers an array of services as established by local, state, and federal law that promote the protection, support, and rehabilitation of families and individuals. The department is responsible for administration of many programs in the areas of Public Assistance, such as, Cash Assistance, Medical Assistance, Minnesota Care, Food Support, and Child Care Assistance. We also facilitate licensing of Family and Adult Foster Homes and Family Child Care Homes. We provide Child Support Establishment and Enforcement services, Child and Adult Protection, Long Term Care Consultation, and services for persons with Developmental Disabilities/Related Conditions, Mental Illness, other Disabilities, and Chemical Dependency. The department is staffed with a Director, Child Support Officer, two Social Workers, a Financial Assistance Supervisor, a Coordinator on Aging, two Case Aides, three Financial Workers and an Office Support Specialist, Sr.

Reporting Abuse
If the child or adult is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local police department.
To make an Adult Protection Report, please call the Minnesota Adult Abuse Reporting Center at 844-880-1574, 24 hours/7 days a week.
To make a Child Protection Report of physical or sexual abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a child on Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., please call Western Prairie Human Services at 800-291-2827 and ask for the intake worker. You can also complete the Child Protection Form and submit via email to intake@westernprairiemn.us. If making a report by email, please include your contact information that may not be included in the email.
