Civil Process
The Civil Process Division of the Traverse County Sheriff’s Office provide a service for individuals, attorneys, and courts to have legal papers served within the Traverse County area.
Deputies can be tasked with serving of common court documents, such as:
- Subpoenas
- Summonses
- Judicial Orders
- Writs and Levies
- Protection or Harassment Restraining Orders
- Complaints, Petitions or Notices
Civil Process Deputies also perform Sheriff Sales of foreclosed mortgages, executions of property (taking possession thereof after a judicial order), mechanics’ liens, and other lien or property sales.
Our office requires an instructional sheet or cover letter to accompany all paperwork to be served, and we have provided a ready-made template below for convenience:

The Traverse County Sheriff”s Office accepts personal checks, money orders and cash in exact change only.
At this time, our office cannot accept credit or debit cards as a payment method.
