The Social Services Department administers an array of services as established by local, state, and federal law that promote the protection, support, and rehabilitation of families and individuals. The department is responsible for administration of many programs in the areas of Public Assistance, such as, Cash Assistance, Medical Assistance, Minnesota Care, Food Support, and Child Care Assistance. We also facilitate licensing of Family and Adult Foster Homes and Family Child Care Homes. We provide Child Support Establishment and Enforcement services, Child and Adult Protection, Long Term Care Consultation, and services for persons with Developmental Disabilities/Related Conditions, Mental Illness, other Disabilities, and Chemical Dependency. The department is staffed with a Director/Child Support Officer, three Social Workers, a Financial Assistance Supervisor, a Coordinator on Aging Assistant, a Case Aide, three Financial Workers and an Office Support Specialist, Sr.
ATTENTION
Child Care Assistance funds are available through Traverse County Social Services Department. The Child Care Assistance Program is a reimbursement program that helps working parents and/or students pay their child care expenses. The program has income guidelines. For example, a family of four whose annual maximum gross income is $40,890 or less may qualify.
